Things get out of hand.  I understand that.  I’m just stunned by how poorly Microsoft has handled the “launch” of their Windows 7 beta program.

They had a chance to steal the news cycle with a hungry bunch of geeks looking for something new to play with since CES has been the usual bust of overpriced gizmos that no one really needs.

And yet 24 hours after Windows 7 beta was suposed to have gone live we still wait for Microsoft to find enough bandwidth to serve their files and a system of metering out their precious 2.5 million activation codes.  And we’ve received little more than rumors to direct us as to when we might actually be able to download their file.

I managed to get a code but I’ve yet to find a reliable and safe source for the beta itself.  Have they ever heard of the concept of bittorrent?

Oh, Microsoft, you need to wake up and realize that it simply isn’t 1999 anymore.
