I only wish I had 10,000 words worth of your attention to tell you just how many times Chrysler had the chance to become one of the worlds top automakers instead of what is left of them today.

They once had the talent to drive the market. Top managers. Top engineers. Motivated factory workers. Lean and hungry vendors. The attention of the public.

Somewhere along the line they started chasing the market instead of setting it. And so they will fail.

Unless…

Unless they can rekindle the spirit of innovation that saved them both in the early 1980’s and again in the early 1990’s it is over.

In fact, it’s really only a matter of time from here. Oh, the government may choose to prop them up with your dime but the Chrysler that I knew died 10 years ago. Most folks are just starting to catch up to the news.

It isn’t over just yet but I’m just not hearing anything coming out of Detroit that’s going to change anything from here.

R.I.P. Chrysler and thanks.
