Almost 80% of respondents are passing on the 3GS mainly because they don’t think the upgrade is worth the money, they’re not eligible for the upgrade pricing, they think AT&T blows, they’re waiting for next year’s model, or they’re simply happy with their current phone.

I’m with the 80% on this one as well.  In fact, I agree with just about all of the above.  Since I already have an iPhone 3G, which I enjoy very much, the $399 upgrade price being offered to me, along with having to sign a contract extension with AT&T is just out of the question.  In fact, I would have sat this one out even at the $199 price.  The iPhone 3G gets me what I need out of a portable phone / Internet device.  Where the 3G comes up short for me, mainly Flash support and a carrier that offers 3G service in my area, the 3GS doesn’t resolve.

The 3GS is a better phone.  No question.  Is it worth $399 and two more years with one of the country’s most disrespected carriers?  Pass.
