Not Surprised

You thought Tiger Woods was actually as perfect as his $1 billion media machine wanted up to believe? A child star who grows up being told he is the best in the world, earns more money than we can dream of spending, the most famous althlete in the world… And you want normal?

Now we’ll see just how much damage this does. Not just to Tiger and his family but to the entire world of professional golf.

Believe me, with billions of dollars on the line for some very powerful groups, look for this mess to be buried and ignored as quickly as possible.

Tigermania is the only thing keeping corporate sponsorship flowing at all these days for most tour stops. Without Tiger, it’s just a bad investment at current rates. Now it could be embarrassingly bad.

Sit back and watch the machine in action… This will be gone and forgotten by Augusta if at all possible.

If not? Then my past predictions will sadly come true: Tiger Woods is ruining golf.

Talking or Marketing

Again I’m drawn to point out that too many are using social media in increasingly anti-social ways.

To Tweet or post on Facebook your thought, comments, or plugs for your content without any interest in generating a dialog only goes to prove to the unadopted masses what a ridiculous construct social media has become.

You’re on your soapbox, I’m on mine. She’s on hers. He’s on his. We’re all shouting our thoughts into the cloud but we aren’t responding or even listening to the conversations we’re trying to create

I recently attended a presentation by Gary Vaynerchuk where he clearly stated that he doesn’t even bother to use Twitter as intended. To quote: “If I follow you on Twitter I don’t follow you on Twitter.”

We’re all talking But, is anybody talking to each other any more?
